In the Style X Dame Deborah James charity collection

A tee shirt by online retailer In the Style and Dame Deborah James has already raised £140,000 for The BowelBabe fund.

Over 20,000 ‘Rebellious Hope’ tee shirts sold in just over two hours since the launch – with news that the entire collection is nearly ready. The profits from each t-shirt will go to The Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK

Dame Deborah James is a journalist, podcast host, and campaigner who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016. Told that she only had 5 years to live, the 40-year-old mother of two has shared her journey on Instagram to raise awareness.

She shared with her 819k followers on Instagram:`
“I’m so excited to finally be able to share (at least part) of a project I’ve been working on for several months now. Together with the @inthestyle team I’ve been creating and designing a collection of beautiful clothes to hopefully make us all look good and feel great!!!

The main collection isn’t quite ready yet, although some of you will have noticed recently, I’ve been sporting a whole host of beautiful floral dresses – which I can confirm were worn for my visit from Prince William!

I cannot tell you guys how this partnership has kept me going through my hospital stays and taken me away from cancer. For years, I always talked about ‘Dressing up to make you feel better’ and over recent months all the ups and downs, being in and out of hospital, dressing up in nice clothes, and popping on some Lippy has made a difference to my journey.”

Throughout her treatment, she has been raising awareness of the disease through her BowelBabe account. The mum of two has also given permission for her final TV appearance on Embarrassing Bodies to be aired even if she is no longer here.

Sadly, Dame Deborah James announced last Monday that she is receiving end-of-life care at her parents’ home in Surrey.

The tee shirt can be purchased here.
